Just days after 21st Amendment’s Bitter American earned a spot on the Washington Post’s “Top 10 Beers of 2011”, the brewery announced that it would be distributing the brew year-round due to a deluge of angry emails and letters when they pulled the previously seasonal canned Pale Ale from the shelves.  Described as a Session Pale Ale with only 4.4% ABV, Bitter American was traditionally sold as a winter seasonal as a “perfect antidote to the big beers of winter”.

“Bitter American is a great beer during colder times when strong beers seem to be pretty prevalent. When we first brewed this beer it really scratched the lower-alcohol-session-beer-itch that I would get when I was tired of drinking barley wines, imperial stouts and other stronger hoppy beers. I wanted and I think a lot of good beer drinkers want a session beer where you can enjoy a few pints of a beer with huge flavor but without all the alcohol. Bitter American is a mere 4.4% ABV. It’s got all the flavor and you can keep moving.” -Founder and Brewmaster Shaun

Bitter American will be available in CA, OR, WA, AK, ID, MN, OH, MA, NY, NJ, DC, MD, PA, VA, GA and NC.

21st Amendment Brewery is one of the leaders in providing great craft beer in a can, a trend that is likely to become widespread with the growth of the craft beer industry.
